The Gaye Holud (গায়ে হলুদ) is an integral pre-wedding Bengali ceremony that takes place one day before the wedding itself. Translating to “turmeric on the body,” the event symbolizes purification, blessings, and the beginning of a weekend full of celebration. Turmeric plays a central role in the ceremony, as it is traditionally applied to the bride to give their skin a radiant glow before the big day.
